Hebrews

This letter was written sometime between 66-70 A.D. to a group of Jewish Christians. These Christians were facing persecutions from the Roman Empire because of their faith in Jesus, while their old religion was sanctioned by the rulers. So some of them were tempted to go back to their old religion and were wavering between Christianity and Judaism. They were losing their absolute faith in Jesus Christ. In this situation, the author of Hebrews reminded them who Jesus Christ really is. He compared the person and achievements of Jesus with those of the Old Testament priesthood and sacrificial system, so as to show the superiority of Jesus to all things. May God help us to know personally who Jesus really is as we study this book!
